Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Strategic Sourcing is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide sourcing strategies that align with ZimVie’s long-term business objectives. This individual will lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that drive innovation, reduce total cost of ownership, mitigate risk, and build resilient supplier partnerships across direct and indirect categories. As a strategic business partner to functional leaders across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Commercial, this role will ensure sourcing decisions are proactive, data-driven, and strategically aligned.
The Associate Director will also lead supplier relationship management efforts, establish strong governance mechanisms, and guide sourcing contributions to product development, capacity expansion, and sustainability objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
• Lead the development of global category strategies for high impact spend areas, using market intelligence, supplier insights, and internal business requirements.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business goals, product roadmaps, and operational plans.
• Drive the strategic sourcing function’s evolution, promoting a proactive, value-creation mindset across the enterprise.
Supplier & Contract Management
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, contract negotiations, and long-term relationship management for critical suppliers.
• Establish and govern supplier performance metrics, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and continuous improvement roadmaps.
• Ensure rigorous risk management practices, including supply continuity planning, financial health assessments, and supplier diversification.
Cost Optimization & Innovation
• Identify and implement cost reduction and value engineering opportunities across the supply base.
• Influence design-for-cost initiatives and support make-vs-buy, outsourcing, and global sourcing strategies.
• Collaborate with R&D and Operations to ensure suppliers can meet requirements for new product introductions and capacity scaling.
People & Process Development
• Lead and mentor sourcing professionals, fostering a high-performance culture with strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Drive standardization, digitization, and best practice adoption across sourcing processes and tools.
• Contribute to the development and execution of Supply Chain transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Governance & Compliance
• Partner with Legal to ensure all agreements meet internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a strong focus on ethical sourcing, ESG principles, and compliance with industry standards.

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities)
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies across complex, global categories.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations across complex categories.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across functional boundaries.
• Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret cost models, market trends, and financial data to support decision-making.
• Strong project management, change leadership, and communication skills.
• Deep understanding of compliance, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, preferably in the Medical Device industry.
• Ability to lead large-scale sourcing projects, including NPI, supplier transitions, and global cost-out programs.
• Advanced knowledge in control procedures, such as the Supplier Change Notification process, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Engineering Specifications, Inspection Criteria and Work Instructions
• Expertise in supply chain dynamics, including NPI, lead time optimization, capacity planning, and sustainability.
Education/Experience Requirements
• Typically requires bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; MBA or master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, supply chain, or related operations roles, with at least 5 years in a strategic or leadership capacity.
• Experience in highly regulated industries such as Medical Device and Pharmaceuticals is strongly preferred.
Travel Requirements
Up to 30%, including supplier site visits and strategic meetings.
