Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and inventory accuracy of all materials within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production cells are consistently supplied with raw materials and components to prevent downtime, while also managing the removal and documentation of finished products.

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Production Line Replenishment: Monitor production schedules and "Point of Use" inventory levels to ensure operators have necessary components before they are needed.
  • Material Staging & Preparation: Prepare and stage "kits" or batches of raw materials based on Work Orders; verify part numbers, quantities, and lot numbers against the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Inventory Control: Perform physical cycle counts and reconciliation. Use ERP/WMS systems (such as SAP or Oracle) to scan materials in and out of locations to maintain real-time accuracy.
  • Material Movement: Operate forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallets jacks, and tuggers to safely move heavy materials through narrow production aisles.
  • Receiving & Inspection: Unload inbound freight, verify packing slips against physical goods, and inspect for damage. Ensure items are labeled correctly before put-away.
  • Waste & dunnage Management: Maintain a clean and safe environment by removing empty pallets, scrap material, and packaging waste from the production floor.
  • Finished Goods Processing: Securely package finished products, apply shipping labels, and move items to the shipping dock or high-bay storage.

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Spatial Awareness: Ability to navigate complex manufacturing layouts and high-traffic areas safely.
  • Technical Literacy: Proficiency with handheld scanners and basic data entry within an ERP system.
  • Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to OSHA standards, including PPE requirements and equipment pre-check protocols.
  • Detail Orientation: Extreme accuracy in reading small-print labels and distinguishing between similar-looking components to prevent production errors.
  • Communication: Superior interpersonal and communication skill
  • Professionalism: Responsible, professional, detail oriented and with patience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent work experience in distribution/warehouse or manufacturing setting Communicate clearly in verbal and written form in English
  • Computer skills and experience with a WMS are required
  • Experience working with Oracle is preferred  
  • Ability to work with and coordinate with other departments/personnel in a collaborative and solutions-oriented manner
